We are often asked whether we recommend PCs or Macs, and that is a loaded question. The answer depends largely on what you intend to do with the computer. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. Don’t believe any suggestion that one is better than the other. They are simply different.
It is true that Macs are nearly invulnerable to viruses and spyware. And it is generally much less likely for a user to accidentally “break” the operating system causing unknown errors and issues. Macs are generally considered to be superior in working with multimedia files (audio, video, picture, etc.).
Ease of use depends on the person. There are a myriad of people that will testify for both sides.
The one heavy weight still on the side of PCs running Windows is that there are thousands of programs available to that platform, and nearly every popular electronic device will be made to work with Windows. Macs have only a fraction of the software resources available…although the rise in popularity with Apple products has made the number of software products and compatibility higher than ever.
The best advice is to check the programs you will be using when purchasing a new computer. The availability of that software on one or both platforms will quickly help you in your decision.
